Recently I had an article sent over to me from a friend (Thanks Jen!) that talked about our body language and how it affected our performance. Some of the findings were pretty interesting! Research showed that people who stood in a “high power” pose for two minutes experienced a 20% increase in testosterone and a 25% decrease in cortisol. Where people who stood in a “low power” pose for two minutes experienced a 10% decrease in testosterone and a 10% increase in cortisol. Which is pretty intriguing since testosterone is one of the major hormones for building muscle and cortisol plays a role in the breaking down of muscle tissue.

If you’re wondering how to get into this power pose this is what the article says “Stand in front of the barbell, box or whatever it is that feels intimidating. Put your hands on your hips, hold your head up with a broad, puffed up chest. Act like the boss you are and know that the bar will be very, very afraid.” Don’t be afraid to get into your pose next time you are going for that PR! For a little more information you can check out the whole article here:

I'm sure Kyle T. approached that bar with some proper body language!
