Meet Tyler

Tyler grew up in Oregon City, before heading to Portland State University to compete in Track & Field. He transferred to Oregon State his Junior year and earned a degree in Business Administration. After graduating he took a job locally with Knife River as a Construction Estimator/Project Manager.

HOW I STARTED CROSSFIT:

I have followed the sport of CrossFit since my Junior year of high school. I had been Olympic lifting since I was 15 and loved the sport aspect of the CrossFit world. After my Track career ended, I decided to try out CrossFit for myself and found it to be a great competitive outlet for me.

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT COACHING:

I find it to be incredibly rewarding when somebody makes a breakthrough with a movement or finds joy in the process of improving their abilities. Getting to work with athletes who really care about their fitness and want to become better versions of themselves is the best feeling as a coach.

ATHLETIC BACKGROUND:

I competed in all varieties of sports growing up, from football to baseball, soccer, basketball, the list goes on. Once I got to high school I narrowed my focus down to track & field and snowboarding. I ended up earning a scholarship to throw Hammer for the track team at Portland State University, where I competed for two seasons before incurring an injury that ended my career.

FAVORITE WOD:

Our very own “CFT Sprint” was my favorite WOD in recent memory. This was one that absolutely crushed me the first time around, but has shown me how far I’ve come as a CrossFit athlete every time we repeat it!

20-18-16 Reps for Time:
Thrusters, 95#
Toes-to-Bar

FAVORITE MOVEMENT:

Ring Muscles Ups and Heavy Clean & Jerks

FAVORITE THING ABOUT CROSSFIT TRAIN 97333:

We have the best coaches and community. It’s rare to find a gym with coaches who care so much about the safety and efficacy of the movements we do as CrossFit athletes. I feel this has bred a culture of people who care about our sport and find joy in pursuing better fitness together as a community.
