Some people might not think that watching people workout is entertaining.

These people haven't been to a CrossFit Games sponsored event.

There was nothing boring about Cole Sager absolutely crushing Event 7 to move himself up from 9th place to a games qualifying spot in 5th.

This is the Sport Of Fitness and it is awesome!

Joey getting upside down during the Chipper!

Day 3 wrapped up an amazing weekend with a couple of nail-biting workouts!

Event 6: The Chipper

The second to last workout involved a quick Assault Bike ride, 100 feet of Handstand Walking, Heavy 155lb. Overhead Squats, Rowing, a whole mess of burpee box jump OVERS, and another go at a heavy Overhead Squat. It was a lot of stuff and as a result very entertaining!

Hayley was up first and crushed the Assault bike and Handstand walk like a champ. The barbell proved tough, but Hayley got through the Overhead Squats in a couple of sets. Watching all the girls struggle through the OHS was tough, it was very heavy and a lot of the athletes had to break up the 10 reps a lot! Hayley ended up getting through all 50 of her burpee box jump overs by the 16 minute time cap.

Joey was in the last heat with all the big dogs again to start day 3. Joey had no problem with the handstand walk just like Hayley, both of them had great control and it was fun to see them in their element. The Overhead squats were tough for Joey too, but she broke them up into small sets and got them done. After the row Joey killed the burpee box jump overs and ended up catching up with some of the bigger name athletes by the end. Joey ended up finishing the last 5 OHS and the WOD at 15:18.

Hayley with a badass shot of a legless rope climb!

Event 7: Legless Fran

It was finally time for the final event of the weekend. This WOD is a hell of a race and a damn good time to watch!

Hayley did amazing in her heat and finished the WOD in 4:58. She paced it just right and destroyed the legless rope climbs no problem. Definitely one of the funnest WODs to watch Hayley in!

Joey was in the final heat and it was a race to say the least! Joey ended the weekend with a time of 4:36, it was an awesome last workout.

Our awesome competitors representing TRAIN!!!

Overall Joey ended with a 9th place finish and Hayley with 26th place. Both of them performed amazingly in their first go at Regionals. We are all so damn proud of these two, and hope that there will be many more years of Regional appearances to come!

Day 2, Saturday, was moving day! Our cheering section was bigger and our athletes put on a show!

Event 3/4: Wall Balls and Pull-ups/Pistols and Cleans

For both events today Joey and Hayley were in the same heat! This made spectating that much easier and was really cool to have two of our athletes together at the same time!

Event 3 consisted of 104 Wall-balls followed by 52 pull-ups in6 minute time cap, neither of our ladies finished under the cap but it was exciting once they got to the pull-up bar watching them get as many reps as they could before time expired!

Hayley ended up with 34 pull-ups and Joey ended up with 21 pull-ups at the 6 minute time cap.

After 1 quick minute of rest, they were on to Event 4. Lots of pistols and cleans with a 10 minute time cap. This event was exciting to say the least.

Joey started off at a consistent pace on the pistols and blew through the cleans. After a couple of rounds she was vying for the lead with past games athlete Alex Parker. Joey eventually overtook parker in classic Joey fashion and finished with a heat win and 1st place overall!

Hayley kept moving at a steady pace on the pistols and cleans and finished just under the time cap! It was awesome to have both our competitors in the same field, double the cheering!

Hayley getting serious on some pistols!

Event 5: Running, GHD sit-ups, and Deadlifts. With a 16:00 time cap.

Once again Hayley and Joey were in the same heat and this was another fun event to watch!

The deadlifts were heavy for both ladies but they did great and made I happen. Hayley did great moving the deadlift considering her max deadlift was very close to the 275lbs. that they were lifting! She ended up finishing well over 2 rounds when the 16 minute time cap was reached.

Joey had herself another race with games athletes in this event. She ended up with another heat win after pulling ahead of the other athletes. The announcers even called her the Terminator and a cyborg because of her blistering pace. This would be a 3rd place finish overall for Joey.

An awesome collage of Joey annihilating Event 5!                                           (Thanks Tish Bottaro)

Day 3 recap coming tomorrow!

Joey at her athlete briefing the night before competition, looking strong!

Day one at the West Regional was nerve racking and then fun!

Event 1: Snatch Ladder

Hayley was in the first heat and the first of our competitors to hit the floor. Our cheering section got to welcome her onto the competition floor and it was awesome getting to hear Hayley's name and CrossFit Train 97333 come over the loud speaker.

The first workout was a snatch ladder with increasing weight and decreasing weights. Hayley did better than she had in practice and ended up getting through 10 snatches at 135lbs, 8 snatches at 145lbs, and 2 snatches at 155lbs. before time expired. She did an awesome job and it was aperfect way to start the weekend!

Hayley, all smiles while destroying the snatches!

Joey was in heat 4 with all the big name CrossFit Games girls and again it was so much fun to cheer her on when she entered the arena and the loudspeaker said her name and the name of our gym. This workout was the one workout of Regionals that Joey had been worried about. But she got what she needed to get done, and the rest of the weekend was hers to take. Joey ended up getting 4 snatches at 135lbs. which was also better than what had happened in practice!

Event 2: Regionals Nate

Now that Event 1 was over and the snatches were out of the way it was time to hit an actual workout and have some fun! Event 2 was a 20 minute long workout of Muscle-ups, HSPU, and KB Snatches. Both of our ladies excel at these movements so this was exciting to watch!

Hayley was in heat one again and she did amazing. The announcers kept saying her name because she was going so good in her heat. The movements were tough but she kept powering through them. Hayley ended up with over 6 rounds under the 20 minute time cap.

Joey was with the big shots in heat 4 again and was in a close race for second place towards the end of the workout. Joey ended up edging out her competition and got second place in the heat and 3rd place overall with over 8 rounds in the 20 minute time cap! It was a nail-biter and crazy to watch, some seriously entertaining exercising!

Joey on her way to third place during Regionals Nate!

After Event 1 ended it seemed like a lot of stress had been lifted, Joey and Hayley had a great day 1 after that and it was an honor to be in the crowd cheering them on with the rest of CrossFit Train!

Stay tuned for the day two recap tomorrow!

This Regionals weekend was amazing!

Thank you so much to everybody that came up and supported our outstanding athletes and thanks to everybody for surviving Friday afternoon and the Weekend without any WODs :)

I don't have enough time tonight to create a full breakdown of the weekend in blog form, but over the course of the week I will let you all know more about how awesome of a weekend that Joey, Hayley, and all the other Regional competitors made. In the mean time all the highlights and leaderboard standings are on http://games.crossfit.com/

But let's just say that our ladies killed it and that the whole Regionals experience was a blast!

Hayley was super fun to watch all weekend and ended up finishing 26th overall!

Joey had us on the edge of our seats the whole weekend and ended up in 9th place!!!! It was crazy!

Women:

2. Rebecca Voigt
3. Alessandra Pichelli
4. Chyna Cho
5. Jamie Hagiya

In the California Region the ladies race was intense. The leaderboard was all over the place and some big names looked like they weren't going to be making it back to the games. The most impressive parts of the weekend came from some CrossFit Legends Kristan Clever and Rebecca Voigt. Kristan Clever hasn't been to the cames in at least a couple years but she took 1st in two events and was in the top heat for most of the weekend. Rebecca Voigt proved that she is the definition of fitness by qualifying for her 9th CrossFit Games in a row! She will probably be the only person to ever do that!

Rebecca Voigt is going to the games for the ninth time!

A couple of big names didn't make it from California as well, most notably Brooke Ence and Dan Bailey. We are all very sad that Danny Broflex will not be at the CrossFit Games this year
:(

For the guys, Josh Bridges stole the show! He went from not qualifying last year to taking the winning spot this time around. He was fun to watch the whole weekend and wasn't going to take no for an answer!

Josh Bridges wasn't messing around!

4. Sean Sweeney
5. Joseph Guesnier

Women:
1. Camille Leblanc-Bazinet
2. Whitney Cappellucci
3. Alexis Johnson
4. Tennil Reed
5. Candice Wagner

A couple of big names didn't qualify from this Region. Adrian Conway and Elijah Muhammad both made it to the Games last year but were not able to make it this time around.

The highlight in this Region for me was when they announced the men who had qualified for the Games. Joseph Guesnier, somebody who I had not heard of before, was the last athlete announced as qualifying and he looked dumbfounded. All the other athletes were getting emotional and excited when their names were called but he just looked confused and almost mad, like he didn't know what was going on. It was hilarious!

On the ladies side, other than Camile Leblanc-Bazinet, most everybody else is relatively unknown. I believe all the other qualifiers will be Crossfit Games rookies, which is interesting!

Pacific Regional Qualifiers!

WOD:   5/17/16

Establish a 3RM Squat Clean and Jerk

3 rounds for time of:
64 Double-unders
8 Squat Cleans 135/95

The three Regionals that happened this past weekend had us on the edge of our seats!

I cannot wait to go up to Portland to watch Joey, Hayley, and all the other athletes from the West Super Region compete!

First a little Pacific Region recap:

Pacific Regional

Men:
1. Rob Forte
2. James Newbury
3. Khan Porter
4. Zeke Grove
5. Mitchell Sinnamon

Women:
1. Kara Webb
2. Tia-Clair Toomey
3. Alethea Boon
4. Justine Beath
5. Madeline Sturt

The highlight of this Regional was definitely Khan Porter clenching a qualifying spot during the last workout. Khan was sitting outside the top 5 qualifying spots going into the last workout and he put in some serious work to win the last event and qualify. It was a hell of a race between him and Zeke Grove, Grove got a no-rep and Khan ran away with it. I would suggest looking it up and watching the re-run.

My favorite moment form the Pacific, Khan killing the last event and making it to the games.

For the ladies, Kara Webb pretty much just crushed everything, she finished the snatch event more than a minute faster than any other women from any Region that went this weekend. But Tia-Clair Toomey, who got second at the games last year, finally actually gave Kara some competition. Another highlight was Alethea Boon crushing the strict muscle-ups in Regionals Nate and getting the closest out of all the women this weekend to completing it!

Kara slaying some snatches!
