CHANGES TO BARBELL CLUB STARTING THIS WEEK

If you came to the first few weeks of Chris Swartz's Barbell Club you'll know that we are VERY lucky to have him as our new Olympic lifting coach! Chris has a ton of experience and we all have a lot to learn from him. In his first few sessions coaching, athletes spent the entire class moving with just PVC pipes and very light weight, drilling the fundamental movements for the snatch, clean, and jerk. Those of you who attended these sessions are raving about how much you learned.

What is clear to me after observing these first few sessions is that we need to make sure anyone attending Barbell Club has a certain baseline level of knowledge. This will allow Chris to spend time coaching every athlete in the class and will make the experience more rewarding for everyone.

So what's changing?

Similar to how you did a 1-on-1 before starting at CrossFit Train, we are going to implement a Barbell Intro Clinic that will provide you with the knowledge to move into Barbell Club. You will not be able to attend Barbell Club until you've completed one of these clinics unless given permission by Chris, Derek, or Cassie. Why the exemption? There are people who attend Barbell Club regularly, have attended all of Chris' classes, and/or are very knowledgeable about the Olympic lifts. There will be situations where we will "grant" permission without requiring clinic attendance.

At first these clinics will be FREE, and we will offer them every other Saturday for six weeks (three clinics in total). They will take place from 10a-11:30, right after the WOD. You only need to attend one clinic in order to go to Barbell Club, but you can come to more if you like! The first clinic will take place on 10/24/2015 at 10am. The following clinics will be held on November 7th and 21st.

Until 10/24 we will continue to allow anyone who has graduated from 101 to attend barbell club. If you haven't attended in the past month you may get pulled aside for a quick "movement" test.

After these free sessions, we will start to charge for the Barbell Into Clinic. The pricing will be as follows:

Group Clinic (3 or more): $20 each

Individual Clinic: $60

As long as there is demand, we will offer one Intro Clinic every month. These will be in a group format and cost $20. If demand is not high enough, these clinics may be held on an "as needed" basis. If you are really itching to get into barbell and can't wait until a clinic you can schedule a time to do an individual clinic with Chris or Cassie.

There will soon be a link on our website for Barbell Club that will detail this information, have clinic dates, etc. Keep an eye out for it!

Please let me know if you have any questions! You can email me at finer.cassie@gmail.com, day or night! I just may not answer until I've had my coffee.

Happy lifting!
